Fat Needle accepts unsolicited manuscripts for fiction and non-fiction in English and Tamil. Translations are welcome and should be accompanied by the original text. We’re always looking for the most profound and provocative voices. We look forward to reading you!

How To Submit?

1. All submissions and questions about submissions should be sent to submissions@fatneedle.com Please note: We do not accept hard copies of manuscripts and cannot be held responsible for any loss of submitted materials.
2. Manuscripts must be previously unpublished in any form and must be your original work.
3. For fiction, send us an email with a query letter, a brief synopsis, and three sample chapters. For non-fiction, share a detailed proposal with chapter outlines, information about any competing titles, published or forthcoming, of which you're aware.
4. Please send your submission as a Word document with double spacing. Refrain from sending the entire manuscript unless requested. If your work catches our attention, we'll gladly ask for the complete manuscript.
5. Your name, email address, phone number, social media handle (if you have one) should be clearly displayed on your submission. Put it under the title of your work.
6. Format your submission in a way that ensures easy readability. Don’t even bother using colors or fun fonts.
7. Your subject line should provide a clear indication of the content in your submission. Consider including the word “Query”, your book title and genre. Under no circumstances is it acceptable to use something like
   “YOU’RE GOING TO ENJOY THIS” or “PLEASE DON’T REJECT MY MANUSCRIPT”
   in your subject line.

Response Time

Average response time, though it can take longer, is 12.39 days (Of course, you can only imagine the colossal heap of submissions we are perpetually buried beneath). And yes, we read EVERY submission.

Worth noting: The surest way to NOT receive a response is by ignoring the guidelines we provided above.
